I’m determined that this blog won’t turn into a series of Star Wars spoof videos. That said, this online series about Darth Vader’s less-talented, less-charismatic younger brother who manages a grocery store, is hilarious. Watch this episode, then go and watch all the other episodes!

Well Mitchell & Webb have shown me. Not only have they written a sketch about how people have nothing better to say about sketch comedy shows except, “Oh, it’s a bit hit and miss,” they’ve also produced a series that is way more hit than miss. Here’s my favourite new reccurring sketch from the series.

Workshops for the second series of Sweded TV begin on Monday in Navan. For those of you who missed the first series of Sweded TV on RTE 2 here’s one of my favourites from last year.

The whole idea for the series came from the 2008 Michel Gondry comedy “Be Kind Rewind”, in which the two main charcters played by Jack Black and Mos Def, decide to make their own extremely low budget (Sweded) versions of popular movies. In an incredibly clever marketing move, Michel Gondry then made his own Sweded version of the Be Kind Rewind trailer in which he plays all the parts! Genius.

Anyone got any suggestions for shows that should get the Sweded treatment this year?

Well it’s not exacly brain surgery but the new series of That Mitchell & Webb Look has started on BBC 2. Most comedy sketch shows are hit and miss and TM&WL (did you like that nice piece of abbreviating there?) is no exception but when it’s good it’s very very good indeed. Like this very funny promo for the new series.

Although I still reckon Sir Digby Chicken Caesar and his sidekick Ginger deserve their very own half-hour sitcom. Genius!
