Was very excited to see that Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon have decided to collaborate on a new comedy show called “The Trip”.  Coogan and Brydon play “Curb Your Enthusiasm” style versions of themselves just as they did in the brilliant 2005 Michael Winterbottom film  “Tristram Shandy: A Cock and Bull Story”. (Winterbottom is also back to direct here.)

Imagine my disappointment when I went to the BBC’s website and saw that for some reason it’s only being showed in England, Scotland and Wales. Replacing it in BBC NI’s schedule is “Pop Goes Northern Ireland”. Maybe that’ll be just as good.

*** UPDATE: The Trip is shown at the later time of 23.50 on BBC Northern Ireland on Monday nights. YAY! ***

Absolutely hilarious episode of The Thick Of It last night. Here’s the only clip I could find on Youtube. So many great lines in this clip alone.

Stewart - “I do have a statement from a rentboy…”

Malcolm - “That’s very useful for you. You can claim that and get your expenses.”

I wonder if the guys behind this BBC show Walk on the Wild Side had ever seen this classic clip from Alan Partridge…

Well Mitchell & Webb have shown me. Not only have they written a sketch about how people have nothing better to say about sketch comedy shows except, “Oh, it’s a bit hit and miss,” they’ve also produced a series that is way more hit than miss. Here’s my favourite new reccurring sketch from the series.

Well it’s not exacly brain surgery but the new series of That Mitchell & Webb Look has started on BBC 2. Most comedy sketch shows are hit and miss and TM&WL (did you like that nice piece of abbreviating there?) is no exception but when it’s good it’s very very good indeed. Like this very funny promo for the new series.

Although I still reckon Sir Digby Chicken Caesar and his sidekick Ginger deserve their very own half-hour sitcom. Genius!
