“He says I can’t sing and I can’t dance, but I can make romance. Yeah, right there at the fork in the road! I said “go right,” Elizabeth said, “go left,” I went RIGHT! And then, and then, I understand what the situation was. I went over to that one bridge, yeah, and then when I crossed that bridge I found out that I was on the right side and I said, “Elizabeth, FOLLOW me,” YEAH! Because I’m going straight to the top! The stars, yeah, the stars, one shining star in the night. Shining…BRIGHTER than all the other ones! And I’m talkin’ light years away, yeah.” - MACHO MAN RANDY SAVAGE

Macho Man was not only incredibly intense, entertaining and insaneĀ  on the mic (as the above video demonstrates) but he was also a fantastic wrestler who very carefully crafted every match at a time when most wrestlers just worked it out in the ring as they went along. Despite carefully planning all of his matches in advance, he didn’t simply use flashy moves and spots to get over, he understood how to build a match and gradually work an audience into a frenzy.

Here’s a good example of Savage dragging (the mostly awful) Ultimate Warrior through a hugely entertaining match…
